Mother's day for the Boomers

Most of us take Mothers day for granted. However, have you ever wondered what it is like for the Baby Boomers?
First, most of us have mothers still living, and have wives who are mothers themselves, as well as children who are mothers.
Wow, minimum three generations of mothers in the average Boomer family.
So how does it work with so many mothers?
First, we have to visit our mothers, either at home, in a nursing home or hospital.
Some of our mothers remember who we are, and some don't?
That does not mean we love them any less, it just means you have to love them more due to their infirmities.
Second, then our wives have to have a day with the kids who want to appreciate them for their efforts. This generally involves a lot of mother daughter bonding, usually in a beauty salon or spa.
The daughters are usually starting to realize how hard their mothers had it, as they have small kids they are responsible for now.
Third our children have a party sponsored by their kids, and generally means ice cream and cake.

It would be nice if we could get everyone together, but that is not practical as some are out of state or even out of country, and lives are more fast pace now than they have ever been.
All this visiting and making time for these celebrations, can sometimes seem like a hastle and we resent it.
We must step back and remember, we definitely would like it a lot less if even one of these three generations is not around for a mother's day celebration.

So happy Mothers day Mom ( great grandma), Mom ( grandma), and Mommy (mom).

take care and check back soon
