Michigan Taxes and Appeals

Once again it is time for the tax tribunal dance. the homeowner has an appraisal that costs them $450, and the city county and state get together and try to predetermine how much they are going to increase your taxes?
The burden of proof they say falls to the home owner???? How is the equality and reasonableness?
The City, County and State have unlimited resources and are in cahoots together to make sure your taxes are as high as they can possible make them, while the home owner, generally a senior on a fixed income is stuck with the bill.
I think everyone should pay their fair share, however, with all the corruption at the city and county level, it seems that home owners are getting the brunt of the tax burden.
How do you fight  it?
I spoke with a home owner that wants to remain anonymous says they just stopped paying their real estate taxes, and it takes years for the city or county to foreclose? Even then if you pay a little, they will not foreclose.
They have been doing this for 6 years and there is no end in sight.
While i do not advocate this, is does seem reasonable, if you are a senior, and own your home, and really don't need credit, then it seems like a reasonable approach.

Good for those that have figured a way around the system.

take care and check back later
